What do I need to send to register a Power of Attorney on an existing account?
To start the process to register a Power of Attorney we will need to see the original or a certified copy of the Power of Attorney document.
We’ll accept a certified copy from the following professionals:
- UK Solicitor
- Public Notary
- Donor (If the POA document is not a Court of Protection)
The person certifying the document must sign, print their name, address, telephone number, date of certification and occupation on the first page of the copy, then on the following pages to sign and date of certification.
The following statement must also be included on every page: ‘This is a true copy of the original document’.
In all cases the certifier must not be retired or a relative.
When this has been received we will set up a file for each attorney and send them out a Customer Detail Form. This is to confirm that the information we have entered onto our system is correct. Once this has been received and any identification is requested, we will register the Power of Attorney document and return it to you for your records.
