Intelligent Finance Secure provides you with extra security for your online transactions. It allows you to choose a secret password that needs to be keyed in addition to your card number and expiration details when making an online purchase from a retailer who also subscribes to the scheme. It is not designed to verify the quality or fitness for purpose of the goods or services ordered. As always, customers need to satisfy themselves that they are dealing with reputable retailers.
Every time you use your card for online purchases with participating companies, you'll be asked to confirm the purchase by entering your password on a secure and completely confidential pop-up screen.
Before you can use Intelligent Finance Secure you must agree to be bound by the conditions below. Please read them carefully before deciding whether to accept them.
Intelligent Finance Secure conditions of use:
"Account" means any account you hold on which an Intelligent Finance Secure credit or debit card has been issued by Bank of Scotland plc.
Account includes any jar within an Intelligent Finance Secure plan.
"Identity details" means the personal information you provide us with when enrolling to use Intelligent Finance Secure and which we use to verify that you are the holder of an account, including a jar within an Intelligent Finance Secure plan.
"Personal Message" means the Personal Message you choose when you enrol which will be shown to you when making online purchases through participating merchants.
"Password" means the password you choose to identify yourself with when using Intelligent Finance Secure.
"Username" means the username you choose to identify yourself with when using Intelligent Finance Secure.
"We", "us" and "our" mean Bank of Scotland plc. Intelligent Finance Secure is a division of Bank of Scotland plc, which is part of the Lloyds Banking Group. More information on the Lloyds Banking Group can be found at www.lloydsbankinggroup.com.
"You", "your" and "yours" mean the person who has entered into this agreement with us.
2. Using Intelligent Finance Secure
When you use Intelligent Finance Secure, both these conditions and your account conditions will apply. If they contradict each other, the relevant condition in your account conditions will apply.
a) To enrol for Intelligent Finance Secure you must provide us with identity details which we will check.
b) When your identity details have been verified you must also choose a unique password, username and Personal Message.
d) If you do not provide adequate identity details we will not allow you to enrol for Intelligent Finance Secure.
a) You are responsible for keeping your password and username secret. You must not write down, store (whether encrypted or otherwise) on your computer or mobile phone handset or let anyone else know your password or username, and the fact that they are for use with this service.
b) If you think that someone else knows your password or username or has used either of them to use Intelligent Finance Secure, you must change it immediately using the Intelligent Finance Secure "Personal Account Manager" facility. If you are unable to use this facility, call us on 0345 609 4343 between 8am and 10pm Monday to Friday, 8am and 6pm on Saturday or 9am and 6pm on Sunday.
c) For administration or security reasons, we can require you to change your password before you use (or carry on using) Intelligent Finance Secure.
d) If we think that:
- someone else is trying to use Intelligent Finance Secure for your account;
- you or someone else is using Intelligent Finance Secure illegally;
- you are not keeping to these conditions or your account conditions; or
- your password or username might be known by someone else
we can stop you using Intelligent Finance Secure.
e) We may give the police or any prosecuting authority any information they need if we think it will help them find out if someone else is using your password or username.
f) We may keep any e-mails sent to or from us. We do this to check what was written and also to help train our staff.
We may change these conditions for any reason by sending written notice to any address you provide us (including your e-mail address) or by publishing the change on our web site. If you change your address (including your e-mail address) you must notify us immediately to ensure that our records are up to date. Intelligent Finance Secure may be amended or terminated, either temporarily or permanently, without notice where the amendment or termination has been required by Visa International Services Association who run the payment systems for the cards used with your accounts.
The current version of the conditions can be viewed at any time at http://www.if.com. In addition, when using certain Intelligent Finance Secure services, you will be subject to any rules or guidance which applies to those services that are shown on that web site.
a) If you wish to terminate your use of Intelligent Finance Secure, call us on 0345 609 4343 between 8am and 10pm Monday to Friday, 8am and 6pm on Saturday or 9am and 6pm on Sunday. Your details will be referred to an appropriate Intelligent Finance Secure agent, following which your password and username will be deactivated. Any purchases made using Intelligent Finance Secure prior to deactivation will not be affected.
b) We can terminate your ability to use Intelligent Finance Secure on written notice. We will normally provide you with thirty days written notice, however, in exceptional circumstances we may terminate your access immediately and notify you as soon as possible thereafter at your current e-mail address.
7. Your liability
a) Unless you are a victim of fraud, you are responsible for all instructions sent using your password.
We strongly recommend that you print a copy of these conditions for you to keep.
