Transfer existing accounts
There are three simple steps to moving your current account to Intelligent Finance. All we need are a few details from you, and we'll do the complicated stuff. You can just relax and wait for your money to start working harder.
Here's how the process works:
Step 1

Existing Intelligent Finance current account customers – simply call our contact Centre on 0845 609 4343 ¹ to request the transfer form.
- Ask your Professional Adviser to apply for an Intelligent Finance Current Account for you, and request that they organise a transfer of your current account from your existing provider. If you're already an Intelligent Finance Savings or Mortgage customer, you can apply online by logging in to your plan and selecting "Enhance Plan"
Step 2
We will send you a transfer authorisation form, for new customers this will be included in your Current Account application pack. You will need to provide
- your existing Current Account sort code and account number
- details of any regular credits to your account (eg salary/pension/dividend payments).
Then simply check the information we have given is correct before signing and dating the form and sending it back to us in the prepaid envelope provided.
Step 3
Your authorisation allows us to initiate the transfer process, we start by getting a list of your standing orders and direct debits from your current bank.
- We will set up regular standing order instructions and send a request to companies that take direct debits from your account asking them to amend their records to claim payments from your new Intelligent Finance Current Account
- If you have provided the relevant details we will also advise your employer or pension provider to amend their records and pay your salary or pension into your new Intelligent Finance account.
After around 6 weeks we will perform a completion check to ensure all payments have been successful. If any credits have not been received or direct debits have not been claimed we will write to you advising that you should contact your employer or direct debit originator to remind them of your new banking details.
When the process has been completed we will write to you to confirm that your account has successfully switched to Intelligent Finance.
¹ Calls to 0845 numbers from BT landlines will cost a maximum of 4p per minute, plus a 6p call set-up fee. The price of calls from other telephone companies will vary. The call price is correct at May 2008.
