Who we are
Intelligent Finance is a division of Bank of Scotland plc, which merged in September 2001 with the Halifax to form a new banking group called HBOS. Since our launch in September 2000, we've provided a range of banking services, and created a radical new approach to personal finance.

Halifax and Bank of Scotland are two of the UK's best-known banks.
The Halifax is the UK's no.1 mortgage lender and savings provider, with over 150 years experience; Bank of Scotland has a 300-year heritage, occupying a leading position in personal and business banking.
The merger has allowed the two organisations to benefit from each other's areas of expertise, and build on each other's strengths to offer their customers an even better deal.

Intelligent Finance
Intelligent Finance was launched in September 2000 as a new concept in personal finance. Designed to save customers money, the Intelligent Finance plan works by linking the money our customers have with the money they borrow, reducing the amount of interest they pay on their borrowings, or increasing the level they earn on their savings.
We've since become one of the UK's leading direct banks.
